Dennis Allen Looks to Establish Change With Raiders

Dennis Allen was hired as the new coach of the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders are hoping that Allen brings a tough grit mindset he established in Denver the previous year.

The Raiders set NFL records with 163 penalties for 1,1358 yards. There tackling was just as bad allowing a league high 5.1 yards per carry, something Dennis Allen vowed he would change.

Allen overhauled the Raiders’ offense and defense. He hired an assistant named Greg Knapp to help implement a West Coast-style system with bootlegs, roll outs, and a fluid zone running scheme to improve an offense that has great potential but has yet to show it.

Compared to Hue Jackson’s fiery and no nonsense attitude, Allen brings a simple and direct demeanor to the Oakland Raiders, but he established that he was in charge and that’s the end of it.

“I’m never going to be satisfied with where we’re at. We’re always going to be looking to improve, so its an ongoing process.” – Dennis Allen
