Weeks Demoted to Triple A, Confident That He Will Return

The A's optioned Jemile Weeks to Triple A Sacramento on Tuesday to clear a spot for the newly acquired Stephen Drew.

Weeks is in the midst of a down season after an excellent rookie campaign. He is hitting just .220 this year with two home runs.

However, he did have some strong words when asked about his demotion:

"For some reason I feel like I was prepared for the news," Weeks said. " ... But at the end of the day, I'm going to be a star in this game, man. You've got to have your ups and downs. It just makes the story so much sweeter when you come back. I don't want to expand too much on it, but you're looking at a star, period."
