Rumor: Dan Boyle for Marian Gaborik?

ESPN’s John Buccigross is reporting that the San Jose Sharks were close to trading Dan Boyle to the New York Rangers for sniper Marian Gaborik.

As someone who has been supportive of trading Boyle, I am all for this deal. Although a solid defenseman, he is getting close to retirement age, and still has a monster contract.

Gaborik, on the other hand, is coming off a 40-goal season with the Rangers, and is still in his prime at age 30.

It’s just a rumor, but hey, what else do we have to talk about?
