Giants Score Season-High 16 Runs in Beating of the Rockies

Melky Cabrera, Buster Posey, and Ryan Theriot combined to drive in seven of the Giants 13 runs, in a 16-4 beating of the last place Colorado Rockies on Friday night.

Angel Pagan jumpstarted the Giants' offense on multiple occasions Friday night. Pagan, who came into the game hitless in his last three games, smacked a leadoff double down the left field line that began a two-run first inning for the Giants

In the seventh, Pagan slashed an RBI triple down the right field line this time around which ignited a four-run inning for the Giants.

Ryan Vogelsong was on cruise control through the first six innings. It took the Rockies nine outs to finally salvage a hit to Vogelsong as Tyler Colvin quickly put the Rockies on the board with a line drive that sailed over Ryan Theriot’s head at second base.

However, the Rockies broke through against Vogelsong in the seventh with a four-run inning of their own. Wilson Rosario put the Rockies back in the game with a two-run homer that ultimately chased Vogelsong from the game.

Vogelsong's 16 game streak of allowing three runs or less, was snapped with Rosario's two-run blast as well.

He finished the night with seven strikeouts.

The Giants blew the game open with a six spot in the eighth inning capped off by a Buster Posey three-run homer to center field that skipped off of the wall into the various trees in centerfield.

The Giants scored two of their six eight inning runs on wild pitches and Hunter Pence recorded his first hit as a Giant too.

Brett Pill was a couple feet away from tanking his second home run of the game, but Gonzalez tracked it down on the warning tack to end the inning.

Just for sweet measure, they tacked on three more runs on a Hector Sanchez RBI double and a Marco Scutaro RBI Single.

Notes:

- Every Giant got a hit
