Zito Continues Dominance of Braves As Giants Win Fourth Straight

Barry Zito continued his dominance of the Braves, the Giants crafted a big fifth inning, and they prevailed, 5-2 against the Braves.

Zito's command was a bit wobbly in the first inning, as he walked two batters. However, he would shutdown the Braves for the next seven innings. He exited the game with two runs which came around to score, diminishing his shutout. Though he picked up the win---the most important thing.

Pablo Sandoval knocked in the first run of the game for the Giants with an RBI single in the third inning.

The Giants, though, would explode in the fifth frame. Hunter Pence placed a perfect push bunt to plate the second run of the game. And Freddie Freeman, who had a rough fifth inning defensively, began the rally for San Francisco. After bobbling a grounder by Brandon Belt, he watched a Hector Sanchez two-run RBI double skip right past him.

The Giants bullpen was able to slam the door shut on the Braves despite a poised rally. Jeremy Affeldt surrendered two unearned runs, Javier Lopez struck out Brian McCann looking, and Sergio Romo completed the inning.
