The Nightcap - 8/7: Buster Goes Deep, A's Rout Halos, etc.

The always consistent Bartolo Colon pitched beautifully and helped the A's rout the Angles 10-4. Every time this team goes through adversity, they somehow find a way to respond and kick it back into gear. They are now in a playoff spot, which is where they should stay for quite a while.

Buster Posey is the officially the hottest man on the planet (ok, I didn't mean that, ladies). He crushed a three run homer to dead center field in Busch Stadium as the Giants defeated the Cards 4-2.

The Giants also have interest in free agent first baseman Lyle Overbay. First Xavier Nady, now Overbay. I thought Brandon Belt was your first baseman of the future?

More Giants news - Pablo Sandoval should be coming off the DL soon. Maybe he will challenge Jose Mijares to an eating contest.

The Sharks are now out of the bidding for free agent forward Shane Doan, which means the biggest addition that Doug Wilson has made to the team this offseason is Brad Stuart. Where are those promised changes, Doug?

And finally some serious news. Oakland Raiders running back Mike Goodson was taken to the hospital after colliding with a teammate during training camp. However, an MRI came back to be negative, which is extremely fortunate.
