Pence Drives in Three as Giants Sweep Rockies

The newest Giant, Hunter Pence drove in three runs on a pair of doubles to lead the Giants to an 8-3 win over the Rockies.

Pence, who had only totaled two hits in his first four games with the Giants, equaled that total today with a screaming double down the left field line in the fifth and a double off the right field wall in the seventh.

The white-hot Buster Posey collected a pair of singles and an RBI to extend his his hitting streak to eight games. His three-game home run streak came to an end, however.

Marco Scutaro pushed the Giants’ lead to to six in the seventh inning with a one-out double that drove in two runs.

Angel Pagan was held hitless, but walked and scored once leading off for the third straight game. Ryan Theriot also scored a run.

Getting the start at catcher, Hector Sanchez recorded two hits as well.

Tim Lincecum worked through six tough innings to get his second consecutive win while allowing just one run on only three strikeouts and an alarming five walks.

Lincecum worked himself out of trouble in the first by getting Willin Rosario to fly out to right field with the bases loaded, limiting the Rockies to their one and only run off him.

Geroge Kontos and Jeremy Affeldt each gave up a run in relief, but an extensive lead prevented a comeback from the Rox.
