Giants Get Blown Out 9-1 in Final Game of Series

The Mets jumped on Barry Zito early, and that led to a 9-1 route of the struggling Giants who wrapped up the home stand by winning just three of seven games.

Zito walked two and hit one to load the bases in the first. Jason Bay followed with a fly ball single that Melky Cabrera was unable to handle. Two runners scored on the play.

Ronny Cedeno tacked on two more runs for the Mets in the first with a double that skipped pass the fielders.

Zito didn't even make it five innings, allowing seven total runs with three walks and just one strikeout.

The Giants' offense meanwhile was stone cold against Chris Young.

Hunter Pence drove in the lone Giants run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth. But Young wouldn't allow anything else, surrendering just four hits to a a bleak Giants' offense.

Cedeno drove in his third and fourth runs of the game with a double in the seventh. That hit put the icing on the cake for the Mets, taking three out of four from the Giants.
