Here Comes The Lockout

Don't look now, but the NHL lockout is coming whether you like it to or not. Both sides, the owners and players union, cannot agree on a new collective bargaining agreement. It's just not going to happen whether you like it to or not.

The fans have no say, whether you like it or not. Bettman basically called us doormats, whether you like it or not. "They'll come back, because we have the best fans in sports," he said. Nothing the fans of the NHL can do will mean anything to those greedy millionaires. Which greedy millionaires am I talking about? Both of them. We have human beings who play a sport for a living saying that $50 million contracts for 5-years isn't enough. Unbelievable. Then, we have the other millionaires saying that 10-year contracts are a bad idea.

That's TSN's own Bob McKenzie saying how there will be a lockout.

The NHL is not the NFL or NBA. We don't have millions of fans worldwide. Taken a year off or most of a year in its prime will be a huge blow to the league itself. Whether a hockey fan or not, the NHL was growing rapidly. Some newbies were starting to watch playoff games on TV and kind of liked the new sport. It won't be on their televisions this winter and they won't care. Simple as that.

Let's face it. We're fans, and Bettman, and the NHLPA, and the owners, don't care what we think. The lockout is coming, whether you like it or not.
