Terrelle Pryor Shines, Raiders Get First Win of Preseason

The Oakand Raiders defeated the Detroit Lions 31-10 tonight to snag their first win of the season. The game was tremendously played by Oakland and there are several good things to take away from the win.

First off, Terrelle Pryor. He was sensational to say the least, as he backed up starting quarterback Carson Palmer due to the injury of Matt Leinart. Pryor threw two touchdowns with no interceptions and 137 yards. On top of that, he rushed for 90 yards on only five carries. Pryor definitely made a good impression to the Raiders coaching staff and after this performance, look for him to continue to progress and make a legitimate run at the Oakland Raiders' back up quarterback job. Pryor completely outplayed Palmer, who threw no touchdowns and two interceptions and constantly looked frustrated and out of rhythm.

Another huge aspect of tonight's game was the superb play of rookie wideouts Rod Streator and Juron Criner, who combined for 171 yards on only seven receptions. Criner caught two balls that were both touchdowns for a total of 115 yards and Streator hauled in five grabs for 56 yards. The great play of these rookies makes Oakland much more comfortable about choosing who to replace for injured wide receiver Denarius Moore. Look for these two to make the team's final roster cut and excel through the season.

Running back Darren McFadden was limited to only nine carries and rushed for 27 yards, but scored a goal line touchdown and showed that he can pound the ball and stay healthy. The Raiders have been cautious with him preseason as they are very eager to use him fully in the regular season.

Detroit Lions quarterback Matt Stafford only threw for 68 yards before leaving the game with a left hand injury.

The Raiders look to stay hot and finish their preseason 2-2 when the play the Seattle Seahawks next week.
