A's Fall to Twins 7-2 as McCarthy Struggles

For the first time in a while, Brandon McCarthy had a bad start. He last just 3.1 innings and allowed six runs on ten hits.

The Minnesota Twins simply had runners all over the place against McCarthy in the first, second, and fourth, scoring two runs in each of those innings. There wasn't really one game-changing hit, but the Twins slowly but surely wore down McCarthy, and chased him out of the game early.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, Brian Duensing and the Twins' bullpen did not yield much to the A's. Duensing pitched six solid innings, allowing two runs. A Josh Donaldson RBI double and a Josh Reddick RBI groundout was all the A's could manage in the game.

The loss drops Oakland to 65-56, but they still remain a half game back in the AL Wild Card chase.
