A's Win Streak Snapped at Seven with Loss to Blue Jays

Well, it was a good run.

The A's win streak was snapped at seven games with a 10-4 defeat at the hands of the Toronto Blue Jays, who avoided the sweep on Thursday afternoon.

Oakland was up 3-0  in the fourth on a pair of home runs, a solo shot by Josh Reddick and a two-run homer by Brandon Inge.

But they couldn't hold the lead. With two on and one out in the bottom half of the fourth, Edwin Encarnacion tied things up with one swing of the bat, a three-run shot to left center.

The A's would regain the lead in the fifth, when with the bases loaded and one out, Reddick beat out a potential double-play ball and put the A's on top 4-3.

But that would be the last time the A's would celebrate, as the Jays came storming back. With runners at second and third and one out in the sixth, pitcher Tommy Milone committed an error on a bunt by Travis Snider. Chris Carter couldn't handle Milone's throw, and both runners would score to give the Blue Jays the lead.

Then, perhaps as redemption for the 16-0 thrashing the A's gave them last night, Toronto would add insult to injury in the eighth, piling on five more runs, stifling any hopes of an Oakland comeback.

Milone continued to struggle on the road, allowing six runs on eight hits. Sean Doolittle had a rare hiccup, giving up four runs in two-thirds of an inning.

The A's will look to put this one behind them as they head to Baltimore to face the Orioles in a three game set. Jarrod Parker (7-4, 3.00 ERA) will pitch for Oakland against Zach Britton (1-0, 3.60 ERA).
